Description

NetBIOS Name Service is used by the SMB protocol for name resolution. It is basically the DNS of NetBIOS, used to store a table of known NetBIOS Host Names and their corresponding IP address.

Since Windows Vista, it has now been replaced by LLMNR (Link-Local Multicast Name Resolution).
